We are a not-for-profit organisation that has been in operation for over thirty years.
Our main focus is in assisting the aged within the Hungarian community in South Australia.
We also assist recent arrivals from Hungary.
Our office in Norwood is usually attended by volunteers and you will find someone there to assist you at most of the following times:-
Monday 11.00am till 14.00pm
Tuesday 14.00pm till 17.00pm
Wednesday 10.00am till 15.00pm
Thursday 10.00am till 14.00pm
Friday 11.00am till 14.00pm
On Wednesdays of each week (except during Melbourne Cup week when we hold our lunch on Tuesday) we offer a “seniors’ lunch”, which consists of two courses – one week a hearty soup and a main course or at another time a sumptuous main course and desert – these meals are offered at a subsidised rate for members of our society.
We organise a retreat four times a year for our members where we have an excursion to places of interest in the near vicinity of Adelaide. For example – whale watching at Victor Harbor.
Ten times a year we organise a retreat for our Carers’ Support Group – these are normally held on the fourth Thursday of the month. Which are relaxing events where we start with an hour of Tai Chi – followed by a presentation that would be of interest, as well as teach our members of the group something new and pertaining to their responsibilities and that would also ease their burden of being carers.
Our society is run by a management committee, which stands for election every three years. The committee’s office bearers consist of a President, Secretary, Public Officer, Social Coordinator and Liaison Officer.
Currently our office bearers are:-
President v. Ákos Nagy
Secretary Valeria Burnyoczky
Public Officer & Social Coordinator Magdolna Berekally
Liaison Officer v. Éva Altorjay
Committee Members Mártha Kövendy,
Ilona Balatincz,
Erika Cotton.
